I'm confused by this - if they provide a meal, why do I need to select it?
Also, do you know if these flights operate direct, or do they refuel somewhere? I seem to recall a friend going a while back, and his flight refuelled in Bahrain.

1) Airlines like Thomson still provide free meals, but they like you to book any special requests well in advance, using a drop down menu. There is no charge for whatever type of meal you want, as this is a long haul route - in effect, they have you captive, but they don't want to be seen to be forcing you to pay for the meal.
2) Yes, to the best of my knowledge, all Goa flights operate direct. Modern aircraft have much longer ranges, and adding in an additional fuel stop takes time and costs money. Some Caribbean flights include a stop because it is easier to combine destinations which are very close to each other, but poorly connected by other means. This is not relevant on Goa flights, as there aren't any other airports nearby which are used by leisure airlines.
There also used to be a requirement to book at least one night's accommodation with flights to Goa, but this no longer seems to be the case. However, you will need to sort out your own visa for India.
