Meanwhile, Avignon's stunning TGV station, which deserves to be a destination in its own right, is also easily reachable by train from London, Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Lyon Saint Exupery airport. Allow around 6 hours 40 minutes (with a change in Lille) for the train journey from London to Avignon, 3 hours 15 minutes from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Avignon and just under an hour from Lyon Saint Exupery to Avignon.

A lovely airport to use - compact, but with enough flights to still be useful, not a sprawling mess like Marseille.

For once, a relly nicely designed terminal - simple pastel colours but nothing too fancy or over the top.

I'm looking for flights to Avignon in June, but can't find much. Jet2 don't seem to do the route anymore, and Flybe have it as an option from Manchester, but nothing to book.

Am I best going down to Birmingham, where I can find flights, but only on a Saturday (midweek flights suit me much better) - or is there a better option?

Harald - yes, I see that Jet2 haven't included this route in their Summer programme.

Flybe also don't do Avignon flights from Manchester - but for some reason, they do operate direct flights to Avignon from Exeter and Southampton. Birmingham is a weekly service, but they also add Wednesday flights, but only in July and August.

There are a few airports with flights to Marseille, but not near Manchester. I'd consider flying to Paris CDG instead, and taking the train down from there.
