Flight Summary
Flights to Avignon are available with Flybe, and Air France CityJet, but the airport's relatively short runway length keeps away airlines which use bigger aircraft such as Ryanair and easyJet.
It is almost as easy to reach Avignon by finding flights to Marseille instead, and then taking local transport from there. Alternatively, Ryanair also offer flights to nearby Nimes.
Destination Summary

For once, a relly nicely designed terminal - simple pastel colours but nothing too fancy or over the top.

Am I best going down to Birmingham, where I can find flights, but only on a Saturday (midweek flights suit me much better) - or is there a better option?

Flybe also don't do Avignon flights from Manchester - but for some reason, they do operate direct flights to Avignon from Exeter and Southampton. Birmingham is a weekly service, but they also add Wednesday flights, but only in July and August.
There are a few airports with flights to Marseille, but not near Manchester. I'd consider flying to Paris CDG instead, and taking the train down from there.
