James Says

As well as being the main arrivals point for the Costa Almeria and Sierra Nevada regions, Almeria also serves the eastern edges of the Costa del Sol, although the range of flights is nothing like as well-developed as it is to Malaga. If you are unable to find flights to Almeria, then it might be worth considering flights to Malaga instead. Almeria is around a 2 1/2 hour drive to the east of Malaga airport, although the road network is not particularly well-developed around Motril on the Costa Tropical, around half way between Málaga and Almeria. If your local airport also offers cheap flights to Granada, then this might be a much better option, especially as the A-92 Autovia offers a fast link between Granada and Almeria.
