BmiBaby axe flights from East Midlands
BmiBaby has terminated four of its services from Nottingham East Midlands Airport (NEMA) and is moving several others to Birmingham Airport. BmiBaby's flights to Dublin, Barcelona, Ibiza and Toulouse will be axed, whilst the carrier's services to Nice, Bordeaux and Knock in Ireland will be moved southwards. In addition, services to Paris and Nice will pass over to business carrier BMI. BmiBaby will operate 11 services in summer 2005, compared to 20 in 2004. The BBC quoted Simon Evans, chief executive of the Air Transport Users Council, as saying: "The difficulty for people in the Nottingham catchment area now is only very recently they have been given something they wanted - cheap air travel."In response, a BMI spokesperson said: "Passengers flying with BMI Regional will benefit from the same starting prices that were available through BmiBaby."
